Why What We Do Is Important
Illinois school budgets are funded by local, state, and federal funds. These sources are being reduced, eliminated, or even cut entirely. This, however, does not eliminate the needs of our students and those charged with still providing the same quality education for them. In these challenging times, many programs and educational support tools cannot be provided through traditional school funding.
The Sherrard Academic Foundation, through generous community support, has been able to support our district’s students and teachers by providing additional financial resources to advance educational initiatives consistent with its mission.
Ways to Donate
The generous support from our communities helps us to enhance the educational efforts of the students, teachers and administrators of our school district. Cash donations are always appreciated, and will be deposited in the Foundation’s general fund unless specific instructions for use of the gift are provided to the Foundation.

Legacy Gift:
Planned giving to the Sherrard Academic Foundation through bequest made through a will, endowed gifts, charitable trusts or beneficiary designations. These gifts can be made in cash, stocks, bonds, personal property or real estate. Seek the advice of your financial or legal advisor to understand your options.
Memorial or Honorary Donations:
Give in remembrance of, or to honor, an individual.
Establishing a Scholarship:
Create a scholarship in remembrance of a family or individual, encourage students’ entrance into a particular field or other reasons important to you.

Tax Deductibility of Donations
Due to our relationship with The Moline Foundation, a 501(c)(3) organization, all donations to the Sherrard academic Foundation are tax deductible.

The online donation form that will display will show the caption “Donate to The Moline Foundation” at the top of the page. The Moline Foundation acts as the fiscal agent for the Sherrard Academic Foundation and all donations made to our foundation are deposited in a separate fund at The Moline Foundation, which is why your donation is being made through their website.

Relationship With The Moline Foundation
In order to maintain proper operating and accounting procedures, minimize costs, and make sure we are in compliance with all tax laws, the Sherrard Academic Foundation partners with The Moline Foundation to act as our fiscal agent. The two organizations are totally independent from each other and The Moline Foundation provides their services for a fee like any other business partner. All funds received by the Sherrard Academic Foundation are on deposit in a separate account within The Moline Foundation and they maintain our accounting records and pay our bills. Donors may, from time to time, receive confirmations or other communications from The Moline Foundation on behalf of the Sherrard Academic Foundation. These communications are required and are sent to donors at our request and with our approval. The communications may reference a donation to The Moline Foundation for the benefit of the Sherrard Academic Foundation. Please rest assured that your donations to the Sherrard Academic Foundation have been credited to the Sherrard Academic Foundation’s account and have been handled properly to qualify as a tax deduction.
The Moline Foundation should not be confused with the Moline Public School Foundation. The two organizations are separate entities and there is no connection between them.
